My neighbour's house didn't burn down. That's the only reason I'm writing this instead of something much worse.
The fire started inside his main panel, behind a closed steel door, in a utility room nobody had opened in months. A loose lug had been quietly cooking for who knows how long. He happened to be home. He happened to smell it. He got lucky twice in the same afternoon.

3 a.m., everyone asleep, three walls between you and the garage. Or Tuesday afternoon, nobody home at all.
Every other piece of fire equipment you own quietly assumes you'll be standing there. This one assumes you won't. That assumption is the entire product.

Your panel was sized for a 1990s house. Look what you've added since.
EV charger. Heat pump. Solar inverter. Home battery. An e-bike charging in the garage overnight.
Every one of those is a load, a connection, and a heat source that the box on your wall was never specified for. The wiring got upgraded. The enclosure it all terminates in usually didn't.
